Trying to manage my time

Hello everyone,

Lately I have been very busy with my academics, work, and swimming. I guess this busy college lifestyle is just a learning experience that will help me in the future. So let me give you a recap of how things have been going for me at st.mikes. First of all I have been doing really good in all my classes but chemistry, I guess I have never really been good in science; I’m great at math but just bad at science. I tell you what though, if it wasn’t for the great professor I have in chemistry I would have been doing a lot worst. He is always available with his office hours and the weekly help sessions, also if I can’t make it to the help sessions for some reason, I can make an appointment to meet with him some other time. The great things is that he is not the only professor at st.mikes that does that, I hear my friends all the time that they go to their professors when they are struggling or they just want to do better in general. Aside from chemistry, I have been doing great with the rest of my classes and swimming is going great as well. Also we I just registered for my classes on Friday, I’ll tell you guys how that went in another blog. well have a great day everyone!!!.

Being in an athletic team, Do you feel like its very clicky and you always have to hang out with them

Hello,

Actually I don’t think that Athletic teams are cliky at all here. Even though you will spend alot of time with them in practice and social events, that does not mean that you have to be with them 24/7. For example I’m in the swimming team and I get along with all of the guys in the team. After practice we all go to alliot and eat dinner together as a team but that does not mean that if one day I want to eat dinner with some other friends I cant because my team will be mad at me. They would be totally fine with it.

Being in an athletic team, you really get close to your teammates and the fact is that you will hang out with them a lot because you know them so well and you guys just become great friends. But that does not mean you can’t make any other friends or hang out with other people. St.mikes is not a clicky school in general, there will always be those friends you hang out more with but that does not restrict you from hanging out with other friends. Hope this answers your question.

What has your favorite part been so far at SMC?

Hello,
My favorite part of SMC has been the professors. In High School you always hear those horror stories of how mean and how college professors are there to get you; but in st.mikes I’ve found that professors are really here for you. In st.mikes professors have office hours, in which you can just walk in and get help. If you can’t make the office hours the professors will be more than happy to set up an appointment with you and help you out.

Aside from office hours some professors also have help sessions, in which you just walk in and get help. If you want more one on one help, again they will be happy to set up an appointment and help you.

Since st.mikes is a small school professors actually know you by your name and you grow a connection with them. They will always be there to help you out with any problems you have.

Second day of official practice

Hey everyone,

So your probably wondering why I'm talking about the second swimming practice and not the first. Thats because I coulnt even walk after the first practice. To clear things up, my last blog was about a pre-season practice. If we keep on swimming like we have the last two days, we will all be better than Michael Phelps in no time; ok maybe I'm overexadirating a bit, but I just wanted to get the point accross. I knew division II athletics was very serious, but our coach is taking to a whole different level, and I'm loving every single second of it. I actaully love how st.mikes takes both athletics and academics very seriosly, alot of other colleges are eather on the athletic side or the academic side, st.mikes is doing a great job keeping it even. Talking about academics I actually have a meeting with my academic advisor to see hows everything going and to talk about the engineering class I will be taking at UVM next semester. I'll tell you guys how it went in the next blog. Have a good day Everyone!!

Very busy day

Hey everyone,

Today has had to be one of my toughest college days. My day started at 5:30 in the morning with swimming practice. I havent been swimming in a while so this practice was really tough. After practice finished I went to Alliot to get some food, it was a great breakfast; I had a bagel, scrambled eggs with cheese and an apple, with orange juice. After breakfast I had chemistry at 8:30 in the morning, Today we started a new topic in which the class skills were challenged to its max. Personally chemistry is not my subject, but Im really starting to like it; I think this is due to my proffesor, He is always there willing to help, and if you need extra help you can always meet up with him. After chemistry, I had calculus, which is my best subject since I'am great with math. Even though I'am very good with math, the class was not a breeze, We were reviewing for an exam we are having tomorrow, in which I have to start studying for(oh and did I mention that I also have a chemistry exam this friday). I had my freshman seminar class afterwards.

As of now I have to study for two exams, and write a 5 page paper for my freshman seminar class, I also have to write a 4 page paper for my religious studies course. On top of that I have to prepare for my Lab tomorrow. Last but not least I have to go to PT with the athletic trainer and knowing my athletic trainer I know she is going to make me work out alot, specially since my season is starting tomorrow. All in all this day has been very stressfull, but I honestly can say its good stress .Well see you guys, I dont want the SMC Athletic trainer make me do extra squads for being late. Have a nice day everyone.

A sunday at burlington

Hello everyone,

Today was the first time I went down to burlington on a sunday morning. Back in new york city I got a haircut every sunday but I havent been able to do the same over here because most of the time im eather studying or in the swimming pool; But today I decided to dedicated this sunday to my hair an go down to burlington to get a hair cut.

Sounds easy huh?, well it wasnt very easy. Almost every barbershop in burlington is closed on sundays, I was with one of my teammates at the time. After half an hour just looking for a barbershop, we decided to take a break and go eat some ice cream at ben an jerry's(best place to eat ice cream...period). since it is such a beautifull day we just sat outside in church street talking about the new swimming coach( ill talk about this in another blog). After we finished eating the ice cream we decided to go down to the mall in church street. we had a great time inside jsut hanging out, I actaully bought a new york yankees hat in which my teammate wasnt very happy about considering he is a red sox fan hahahaha, he also bought a hat, boston of course. This was very funny because no were else will you see a boston and a yankees fan walking around eating ice cream, only in vermont hahaha, and to think about it thats how st.mikes is overall.

As Dan and me start walking back to the car, we see a sign "DIVERSITY BARBERSHOP", "OPEN". This was the expresion on my face..... =0. After we got ourselves back together and saw that it was true, we walked across the street and into the barbershop. When I walked inside the barber shop I noticed that the barber hat a boston hat too, If this would of happened back in new york city I would of probably walked out because I would of feared that teh barber would of tried to sabotage my hair, but since i was in burlington i didn't mind. After i finally finished getting a haircut, Dan and me what was right at the time, We went back to ben and jerry's to eat more ice cream. Finally after our great journey in Burlington, we decided to head back to st.mikes to watch the Patriots vs Jets football game in which I'am actually watching as I' am writting this blog. I have a feeling this is going to be a very exiting football game. Well have a great day everyone and I hope you liked this blog.

What's your favorite movie quote?

My favorite quote of all time was in the movie The Pursuit Of Happyness when Will Smith said "You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.". Considering that im an athlete and other hopes and dreams I have, this quote always motivates me to keep on going.

If you could be invited to one person's birthday party, whose would it be?

If I could be invited to one person's birthday party, it would defenetly be Michael Phelp's party. Even thought I already met him once, it would be really cool if i could be in his birthday party.
